Hybrid fan cooling towers
Closed-loop hybrid fan coolers can cool the liquid down to temperatures close to the wet bulb temperature (always below the dry bulb temperature). The water in the primary circuit (closed) does not come into contact with the secondary circuit.
The cooling process is due to:
- Heat exchange by convection;
- Evaporation of part of the water used for irrigation on the heat exchanger.
- The influence of these factors depends on the parameters of atmospheric air.
In hybrid closed circuit fan coolers, outside air is forced into the tower casing by fans. The air heats up and takes with it some of the evaporated water to the outside. The automatic water supply system compensates for the evaporated water. There are two versions: with constant irrigation, cooling towers operating in winter without irrigation, in summer with irrigation.
- Drip catcher;
- Cooled water;
- Water dispenser;
- Filler;
- Fan;
- Water collector;
- Chilled water.
Example: 230 MW Seabank II Combined Cycle Thermal Power Plant, UK
Advantages:
- Reduced steam cloud size compared to open circuit cooling towers;
Flaws:
- Higher capital cost compared to open circuit cooling towers;
- High risk of recirculation;
- Large energy costs;
- Costs for maintenance and spare parts. Our employees are always ready to offer you professional advice and support in choosing the right equipment for you!
